1.  Landscaping/Nursery Labor* - Full time and part time.  Some weekends will be required, especially in the spring.  No experience is necessary, we will train the right person for the job.  If you are a person who likes to help others, please apply - we work as a team.  However, you must have a good driving record, valid drivers license and be able to obtain a DOT Medical Card and OSHA 10 Certificate prior to employment.  

This position involves working on landscaping jobs as well as in the nursery.  The work will include planting and harvesting trees and shrubs, loading trucks, lawn mowing, pruning, mulching, planting trees and shrubs, spring and fall clean ups, lawn sprinkler installation, wall and walkway installation, and other property maintenance/nursery related work.  Applicants should be highly safety conscious and demonstrate a record of safe working habits.  

The job is fast paced and often we work on multiple projects/locations during the course of the day.  Applicants must be able to handle strenuous work (lifting 50-100 lbs, moving full wheelbarrow loads, planting trees, shoveling soils, mulches, and other tasks) in all weather conditions.  Amherst Nurseries is a small business, and all employees must be willing to step outside of their defined positions as needed in order to help with the task at hand. Employment is from late March to mid December, along with winter snow removal when necessary.

2.  Landscape/Nursery Supervisor* - Amherst Nurseries is looking for a reliable person with experience in landscaping, nursery, or tree work.  Employment would be from March to December, with the opportunity to work through the winter.  Candidates must have at least 3 years of relevant experience, be able to meet the requirements of the "Landscape/Nursery Labor" position, plus be competent in the following areas:

Knowledge of and ability to identify landscape plants
Competence with landscape installation best-practices
Competence with nursery best management practices
Competence with pest management in a nursery setting
Operation of farm tractors and implements
Operation of front end loader with bucket and forks
Operation of pickup truck and trailer combinations
Operation of commercial lawn mowing equipment
Operation of pickup truck with snow plow
Maintenance of farm and landscape equipment
Management of work crew and ability to interact well with other people
Computer skills - Excel and Word
